Liz walked alongside her with his hands clasped behind his back, not unlike the way Cutter had escorted her not an hour previous. However, where Cutter’s gait had been fraught with uncertainty, in Liz’s there was mostly quiet, calm, confidence. The food vendors in the main hall closed up at eight, but the diner off Moraxian’s game room began serving food at eight thirty so Liz had led her slowly in that direction.
“So here we are, just foisted upon one another,” he said. “And you, a runaway. Stranger in a strange land. Sorry, I read a lot of science fiction, which is awesome in itself, but I also find that being a huge dork makes me less threatening and helps break the ice.”
“It’s working,” Ellie said with a smirk.
“Ha, alright,” Liz said. “I’m glad you’re not all meek compliance too. Granted, I hope you’re mostly that, but who doesn’t like a little sass? So what are you, who are you?”
“Uh…” Ellie racked her brain for an answer, eventually coming up empty.
“Okay, how about, what do you like to do for fun? You know, not fucking and bondage? Come on, what did you do back home?”
“Tried to not be at home,” she responded.
“Right,” Liz said. “Well, your submissiveness and the particulars of this University aside, college does offer a lot of freedom. What do you want to do?”
“Eat,” she laughed at her own obnoxiousness as Liz ushered up the steps to the diner entrance on the second story. Moraxian’s Game Room had a long counter along the wall across from the stairs where students could order a multitude of foods, both from hot plates that had been set out behind glass shields and the menu high on the wall above the kitchen.
